With this rollout, the sophisticated video editing and VFX software further enhances its high-level capabilities across platforms and footage formats.
Norwich, UK (September 23, 2021) – FXhome, the video effects and creative software platform from Artlist, announces today a major update to HitFilm video editing and VFX software. The application now comes with a brand new proxy system for improved editing performance, support for the lossless video codec Blackmagic RAW (.braw), and import and export capabilities for FBX 3D camera files for use in (and from) other applications.
With media proxies, HitFilm can now automatically downsize footage and other media for faster performance whilst editing. This is ideal for both video creators who work with 4K and 8K footage that can slow machine performance and amateur video producers working on low-spec laptops.
Speaking of large-format footage, the new release also features support for the popular Blackmagic RAW (.braw) file format, meaning that users of Blackmagic Cinema Cameras can access and use all of their available color data directly inside HitFilm.
When it comes to 3D, HitFilm is already well equipped for an end-to-end workflow. The software boasts fully-unified 3D space, high-fidelity rendering, and studio-level camera solving in the form of Foundry’s Hollywood-standard 3D Camera Tracker. With the ability to import and export FBX between software, HitFilm users can now utilize all of these powerful features in conjunction with post-production and graphics creation platforms like Blender, Nuke, and Unreal Engine for a seamless 3D workflow.
These are just some of the most exciting features introduced in HitFilm 2021.2. The new update also includes an upgrade to the included Boris FX Mocha Pro software, four new effects, and a range of performance, workflow, and usability enhancements. HitFilm Express is available for free at fxhome.com/product/hitfilm-express, and HitFilm Pro is available for purchase starting at just $349 for a three-seat perpetual license, including 12 months of major updates.
