Released 5th April 2023. This update brings a requested improved color picker, a solid background option for text and usability improvements.

Summary

This update brings an improved color picker, a solid background option for text layers, and various usability and stability improvements.

Enhancements

  • Exporting now shows a list of all watermarked features that are present in the export.
  • Text can now include a solid color background behind it.
  • An improved color picker has been implemented.
  • You can now triple-click on text to select an entire line.
  • Locking a layer no longer disables the upgrade buttons present on that layer.
  • Systems which do not meet the minimum specs no longer submit crash reports.
  • Any crashes that occur during export or pre-render are now being reported along with the application crash reports.

Fixes

  • Disabled hardware decoding for AMD drivers where the feature is broken (AMD Adrenalin 22.8.1 to 22.11.2)
  • Creating multiple masks with the Layer Panel displayed no longer causes stability issues.
  • MOV files using the Apple Lossless audio codec no longer cause stability issues.
  • Moving interface containers between displays with different scaling levels no longer causes stability issues.
  • Moving a modal window of the interface between mixed resolution displays no longer causes stability issues.
  • Using the Trimmer to overwrite an entire asset instance no longer crashes.
  • Eliminated a crash involving automatic timeline caching.
  • Eliminated a crash involving deleting a comp which is currently open in a floated panel.
  • Several other crashes reported by users through the crash report tool.
  • Adding a drop shadow effect several times to a masked layer no longer changes the layer position.
  • Improved rendering of the Connection preset for the Vector Stroke effect when applied to text.
  • Rendering of the Vector Stroke effect has been improved.
  • Improved scaling for the Primitive end shape in the vector stroke effect.
  • Improved compatibility of Vector Stroke presets between path and text layers.
  • End shapes on a Vector Stroke now scale more consistently when the stroke is tapered.
  • Improved the X rotation alignment of text within the Rotate Geometry effect.
  • Masks using Feather and Roundness settings no longer flicker when you adjust the Scale.
  • Changing a property value for a text selection now updates correctly, regardless of what is selected.
  • Improved font support in text-based effects.
  • .FBX camera data created in 3DS Max displays a dialog on import, if there were no cameras to import in the .FBX file.
  • The notification system for new updates now factors in time zones.
  • Updated the order in which controls are selected within the New Project menu when you tab through them.
  • Prevented the Learn panel to be opened from the Welcome screen.
  • Export queue is loaded/restored on old/new project(s).
  • Styling of the Override Materials icon has been updated to clarify whether it is enabled or not.

Requirements haven’t changed from the previous version except:

  • Added support for macOS 13 Ventura
  • Removed support for macOS 10.15 Catalina
