HitFilm 2022.2 Full release notes

Released 30th September 2022. This release focuses on quality of life improvements. The watermark is now applied based on export size, not on project or timeline size. This allows users to create large projects and downscale them on export, without a watermark. Several improvements to create and work with vertical videos have also been implemented, including a new workspace, new project templates, and new export templates.

  • Changed watermark restrictions to allow for vertical video exports.
  • Added a new workspace optimized for creating vertical videos.
  • Updated vertical video project templates.
  • Updated export presets, including adding a vertical video preset.
  • The shortcut for Increase Timeline Scale no longer requires the Shift modifier on qwerty keyboards.
  • Clicking the “Learn” label at the top now also toggles the learn sidebar.
  • The upgrade button is now hidden when HitFilm is not activated.
  • Free Licenses no longer show a License End field in the Activation tab of the Options dialog.

Fixes

  • Camera tracking data with a custom pixel aspect ratio no longer causes stability issues on the editor.
  • Boris Sapphire Time effects no longer crashes during playback.
  • Editing the Tesselation in the puppet effect no longer causes stability issues.
  • Deleting empty tracks on the editor timeline no longer causes stability issues.
  • Projects containing keyframes with Linear spatial interpolation now load more reliably.
  • Fixed intermittent stability issue when closing HitFilm on some Intel GPUs.
  • OpenEXR footage now renders correctly in 16-bit and 32-bit projects.
  • Improved support for animated .gltf and .glb models.
  • HitFilm no longer restarts unexpectedly after cancelling a save during shutdown.
  • The Quick action buttons are no longer displayed when the software is not activated.
  • Logging out of one account and into a new account no longer clears the export queue.
  • Importing camera from .fbx file now works with drop frame rates.
  • Unplugging an external monitor on Mac no longer causes the export bar to appear.
  • Improved wording of the export error shown when an export task includes unsupported media.
  • 3D composite shots including clipping now render consistently on all supported CPUs.
  • Asset previews in the Media panel no longer clip square assets.
  • The mask tooltip on Mac now mentions the correct keyboard modifier.
  • Removed an unnecessary horizontal scroll bar from the options dialog.
  • Improved the styling of the Mimimize button.
