Apple Spring Event 2021

CamTrackAR features in the Apple Keynote

Yesterday’s Apple Spring Event included a number of announcements from Apple about the new iPhone 12, iPad Pro, iMac, and more. However, you might have noticed a familiar face (and a much-loved product of ours) feature as part of the event.

Last summer, we announced our first foray into the world of mobile apps with CamTrackAR – a 3D tracking, previz, and virtual production studio in the palm of your hands. This native iOS* app built upon the wealth of hardware and software tools available in the latest iPhones and iPads to bring you a free and easy-to-use tool to get flawless 3D camera tracking straight from your phone, and previsualize your shots on set in no time.

CamTrackAR was born of our passion for bringing accessible creative tools to those who need them – a passion that we could never achieve without the support of FXhome’s wonderful community. This achievement is as much every one of yours as it is our own. From all of us here at FXhome, thank you for joining us on this exciting journey!

*Please note that the reason CamTrackAR can only be used on iOS devices currently is down to the AR camera data we are able to pull from Apple’s hardware technology. We started with ARKit, which is amazingly good, and we are actively talking to Google about the best way forward for Android – so stay tuned!
