Imerge Pro is layer-based, GPU-accelerated image compositing software, making performance astonishingly fast, even on high-resolution images. Some of the unique features of Imerge Pro include:

Nothing is baked in. Imerge Pro keeps your changes live and your color data RAW. Retain the full range of colors and gradients in that 16-bit California sunset throughout the editing process.

RAW processing

Imerge Pro has a powerful bespoke RAW engine that gets the best out of your images. Custom-built and GPU accelerated, it gives you lightning-fast speed when importing any RAW images.

RAW image correction

Use automatic pixel defect correction to locate and correct dead or blown-out pixels, and use RAW data to correct noise-reduction on loading.

Your files at your fingertips

Imerge Pro’s unique home screen automatically finds all the projects on your system, so you can open them and get started easily.

Project templates or custom setup

Quickly choose from presets, or set your own canvas resolution and shape.

Color depth

All image processing is done in 16-bit float color depth.

Group layers together to organize your project, alter how your final composites are rendered, and even put a mask over a whole group of images at once.

Intuitive tools

The straighten tool gives you the ability to draw your ideal horizontal horizon and then rotate the image accordingly. Pair this with the Layout tools, which allow you to align different elements in your scene without any fuss.

Second monitor preview

Impress clients and passing customers at shows with a clean, full quality preview on a second screen, with all interface elements hidden.

Import formats

  • Standard formats including: JPEG, PNG.
  • High-quality formats including: TIFF, RAW.
  • Specialist formats including: EXR (single-layer RGBA), HDR & PSD (flattened).

Image presets

Use presets to replicate the effect you want quickly. Export your presets to share with the community and import your favorites for your next project.

Export formats

You can adjust the following file formats to control the exported image’s compression: JPEG, TIFF, PNG.

Export formats also include: PSD/PSB and HitFilm Composite Shot, allowing you to export your Imerge project as layers to be opened in Photoshop or HitFilm, respectively.

Users are also able to manually specify the dimensions to resize an image (or images) to upon export out of the following options: Width & Height, Megapixels, Percentage, Long edge, Short edge, and Match layer.

We support metadata

Stored metadata including: EXIF, XMP & IPTC.

Batch processing

Layer content

Layers can be made up of multiple images and will provide the ability to export every image combination.

Multiple outputs

Export a number of delivery formats so your content is client-ready or Instagram-ready from the get-go.

Content variations

Give yourself ultimate freedom – export multiple backgrounds, foregrounds, and text layers to create hundreds of different iterations.

Hot folders

Set any folder on your system as a ‘Hot folder’. Adding images to the hot folder will automatically add them to the content variations within the specified project. This will be very useful for batch-processing and so most relevant to portrait, family, and product photographers.

Built-in keying effects

Chroma Key

Look, no hands! Throw out the rotobrush and let Imerge Pro do all the hard work for you. Never slave over erasing fine hairs or lace detail again.

Color Difference Key

Use this great effect with images that contain transparent or semi-transparent areas, such as smoke, shadows, or glass, for a detailed and realistic key.

Color Match Background

Adjust the tones of your image to match your background for an easier and more realistic composite.

Light Wrap

Keep your green screen composites looking super realistic. Light wrap adds realism to your subject by simulating light sources in the background, wrapping around the edges.

Luminance Key

Remove fire and explosions from black or white backgrounds with the intelligently designed Luminance Key. Let it select the pixels that need to be semi-transparent and see results instantly.

Matte Cleaner

Refine and adjust the results of your keying effects in a variety of ways, to improve the edges of the key.

Spill Removal

No use crying over spilled green screen. Don’t be afraid of the dreaded green shadow again with automatic Spill Suppression that neutralizes the shade and removes any unwanted spill.

Remove Color Matting

Eliminates halos from the edges of composited elements where the background has been removed. When a composited element has unwanted color around the edges, you can use Remove Color Matting to eliminate it while still retaining transparency in those edge areas.

Remove Stock Background

Allowing you to remove both black and white backgrounds from stock images easily. An advanced Luminance Key and Demult/Unmult effect built into one easy-to-use tool.

Intelligent masks

Masking is used to manually create a matte used to determine which parts of a layer are visible. Practically, this means that masks can be used to cut holes in your layers, but that’s not all – they can also be used to define where a filter is applied! Mask around just the eyes, or alter the sky’s exposure in a landscape quickly and easily.

There are 5 types of masks available in Imerge Pro:

Easily fade images together, fade to black and white, fade text or even create a photo reflection with a gradient mask.

Use an area mask to hide portions of a layer and reveal the layers below. Perfect for combining multiple photos into a single image or getting rid of unwanted details.

Imerge Pro’s vector masks are not pixel-based, and as a result, are much more accurate.

Image Luminance (intelligent)

This incredible feature breaks an image down into channels of luminosity so that users can mask based on how bright or dark an area is.

Image Color Selection (intelligent)

Much like luminosity, image color selection breaks an image down into color ranges so that users can easily mask specific selections based on color.

Brush Mask

Manually paint in a mask with your mouse or stylus, adjust the brush size, and hardness to fine-tune areas with ease.

Creative filters & effects

Black & White

Convert your image to black and white, or reduce the saturation of your image. Imerge Pro’s black and white tool gives you full control over the luminosity of specific colors in your image, so you can dial in the exact results you desire.

Bleach Bypass

Based on a technique originating in film processing where the bleaching step was completely or partially skipped during development. Bleaching typically serves the purpose of removing silver emulsion from the film. The result is a dramatic image with high contrast and low saturation.

Smooth and posterize your image while overlaying pen lines to the edges giving the image a cartoon-style appearance.

Can be used to simulate the light and distortion effects found in water refraction, with plenty of customization options to achieve realistic water reflections and random or directional wave-like displacement.

Channel Viewer

Quickly exchange individual channels in your image into other results. They are typically used as a diagnostic tool inspecting a particular color space channel from an image.

Chromatic Aberration

Sometimes known as ‘color fringing,’ it creates an offset between the image’s color channels. Perfect for adding a rainbow edge to your areas of contrast, helping your image pop.

This effect allows you to manipulate the local contrast in an image.

Clip and Knockout Blend Modes

Both blend modes are perfect for integrating text into a shot, providing professional titling and stylized text options for publications, web development, and portfolios.

Clone Stamp

Use a brush to clone certain portions of your image and scale, rotate, or flip the resulting image to better fit the target area.

Generate a randomized fractal pattern simulating the appearance of clouds. This is most commonly combined with other effects to produce computer-generated patterns and textures.

Color Adjustment

Your image can be altered with this tool to correct colors when required, or to alter colors for artistic effect.

Color Balance

Balance the red, green, and blue color balance in a layer’s shadows, midtones, and highlights independently. A trusty tool for color correction or adding subtle color contrast to your images.

Color Overlay

Adds a specified color to all the pixels in an image without affecting the alpha channel, so your image’s shape is retained, and only the color will change. This can be useful for making silhouettes or for more creative graphical images that have an alpha channel.

Color Vibrance

Perfect for adding color to grayscale textures, like fractal patterns or particles.

Colorize Black and White

Bring old black and white images into the modern era with the powerful and customizable Colorize Black and White effect that allows you to define the level of detail and color; bringing history to life has never been easier.

Curves are a powerful tool for adjusting colors and tones within your image. The graph displays a histogram of all the values present in the currently selected channel. The diagonal line is the curve you will edit, and it represents the relationship between the input values and output values of your image.

Add or remove mist or haze from your shots. Create spooky-looking scenes, or turn a gray sky clear with a single slider. Dehaze estimates each item’s distance in your image from the camera and adds or removes white based on this distance along with the amount you specify.

Directional Blur

This effect blurs the image in a specific, user-defined direction.

Distort your selected background based on the color, or the tonal data. Fully customizable and perfect for quick changes.

Dot Matrix

Transforms images into a grid of dots, reminiscent of a Dot matrix printer.

Dynamic Contrast

Selectively adjust fine, medium, and large-scale contrast in an image independently of each other. Useful for retouching surfaces (particularly skin) without losing fine details.

Can create a 3D ‘emboss’ etching/printing effect of a layer.

Benefit from all the flexibility and power of working with RAW when editing that cloudy landscape image. The Exposure effect recovers blown-out highlights in the sky with a simple slider.

Focus Stacking

Merge several images at different focal lengths to show the subject in full clarity.

Gaussian Blur

A simple blur that blends each pixel with the surrounding pixels to a radius defined by the user.

A totally customizable effect, allowing you to easily alter your Glow’s radius, exposure, threshold, and Style.

Gradient Map

Applies a color gradient across the tones in your image. This effect can create stylized color effects or, with different blend modes, create custom color grades.

Adding grain to your images can be useful for various purposes, including matching existing grain in other elements of a composite, artificially aging an image for artistic purposes. Grain is similar to noise but more organic in nature.

Stylize any image into a comic-book-style dot-print. Adjust resolution, threshold, or use multiple layers for the authentic feel of a slightly misaligned CMYK print.

HDR Merge

Combine multiple images taken at different exposures for the perfect, dynamic lighting result.

Healing Brush

Intelligently ‘heal’ areas of your image using a reference point to clean up litter, imperfections, or unwanted objects.

This traditional highpass filter is built into Imerge Pro to give you the power to keep details while evening out gradients. As the building block of many retouching techniques, you can mix it with the Highpass Sharpen effect to sharpen up isolated areas of the image.

Hue Colorize

Adds a single hue to the image while retaining all luminance data. Use it to colorize black and white images or on colored images where you need to replace the color with a single hue.

Inner Glow

Applies a glow effect to the inside of the layer’s edges. The glow is applied as a gradient, which fades out as it reaches farther into the image.

Invert individual channels of the image. By default, all color channels are inverted, which inverts the entire image. You can also invert specific channels individually.

Inverted Highpass

In contrast to the Highpass Sharpen effect which adds clarity to the finer details in an image, the Inverted Highpass Effect softens the finer details. This effect can be used as a tool in retouching to soften skin textures. It has a ‘radius’ parameter to affect different levels of detail and also a skin matte creator to isolate the effect to just areas that match user-defined skin tone color values.

Keystone Correction

Correct perspective errors in your image to ensure that vertical lines are truly vertical.

Lens Distortion

Correct or add lens distortion, vignette, sharpening, and chromatic aberration to your photos.

Levels gives you detailed information about the layer’s channel composition through the user of a Histogram Display. This histogram shows information about the image just before the effect is applied, allowing you to make adjustments to the tonality of the layer based on this information.

Leave Color

Pick a color to preserve and desaturate all other colors. Great for ‘Color Splash’ effects or striking, cinematic edits. It can also be inverted to desaturate the chosen color instead of preserving it.

Lens Blur

A comprehensive set of tools to emulate optical lens blur or ‘bokeh’, adding realistic depth-of-field to images in post-production. Lots of customization options are available for aperture shape, bloom, and more. Anamorphic lens blur can also be emulated by ‘stretching’ the lens shape along the X/Y axes.

Light Rays

Uses exposure cues in the scene to generate atmospheric light-streaks from a given source point.

Light Wrap

Keep your green screen composites looking super realistic. Light wrap adds realism to your subject by simulating light sources in the background, wrapping around the edges.

Linear Gradient

Create the perfect sunset look, or give your image some more depth with our Linear Gradient effect, which creates a gradient between selected colors.

Long Shadow

Generates a cast shadow based on the shape of your layer.

LUT (look-up table)

Look Up Tables (LUTs) are files that store a specific map for color adjustment and allow you to quickly apply a pre-defined color grade or adjustment to your layer.

Magnify, bulge, or ‘pinch’ a selected circular or elliptical area with various customization options.

Matte Cleaner

Refine and adjust the results of your keying effects in various ways to improve the edges of the key.

Median Blur

Blur your images using a median filter, perfect for reducing noise while maintaining structure.

Can be used to create all kinds of mosaic effects and random patterns with square, hexagonal, or more random ‘Poisson’ patterns. Pattern ‘uniformity’, color variation, and the spacing between ‘tiles’ can all be adjusted to customize the effect as well as tile size and the 3D shape and lighting of each tile. This effect can even be used to create ‘pixelation’ effects or even ‘raindrop’ effects as well as in combination with other effects to create all kinds of random textures.

Multi-Point Gradient

Generates a gradient with any number of points across a 2D plane. Use Voronoi mode to switch to a closest-point solid shape blending mode.

Adding noise to your images can be useful for various purposes, including matching existing noise in other elements of a composite, artificially aging or distressing an image, or artistic purposes.

Outer Glow

Applies a glow effect to the outside of the layer’s edges. The glow is applied as a gradient, which fades out as it reaches farther from the image’s edges. Perfect for simulating a sun or light.

Creates a solid line along the edges of the layer.

Pattern Overlay

Enables you to apply another image as an overlay onto the layer contents. The selected image is applied as a tile pattern, so it always fills the entire layer.

Pencil Sketch

Creates a ‘sketch’ effect of the applied image.

Go full FBI with the Pixelate effect. Hide someone’s identity or a number plate on a car by selecting a specific area, making it look far lower resolution, and blowing up the pixels’ size.

Reduce the color detail to produce blocks of color for a stylized look.

Quad Warp

Reposition the corners of a layer individually to alter its perspective or the scale of its contents non-uniformly. The effect provides controls for each corner and edge of the layer.

Radial Gradient

Perfect for that sunny look, use a radial gradient to change a central color to another color at the gradient’s outer edge.

This effect allows you to position mirror lines, perfect for adding reflections to subjects in your composite. You can also set the number and rotation of the mirror lines to create kaleidoscopic effects.

Remove Color Matting

Eliminates halos from the edges of composited elements where the background has been removed. When a composited element has unwanted color around the edges, you can remove that color while still retaining transparency in those edge areas.

Rotational Motion Blur

A simulated motion blur based on the rotational movement of the layer.

Roughen Edges

Creates rough, ‘torn’, or fractal noise edges on a layer or image. This can be thought of as an additional masking tool when compositing to blend elements together in a natural way whilst avoiding any obvious separation between edges. Can also be used to create ‘distressed’ photograph effects or ‘grungy’ text.

Saturation Editor

The saturation editor is optimized for fine-tuning the intensity of each color in the layer. It uses a curve to control the saturation of different colors.

Scan Lines

Creates a consistent pattern of light and dark lines, effectively replicating the look of television or other electronic displays or creating a pattern for graphic purposes.

Shadows & Highlights

An advanced tool for more controlled adjustments of contrast in the shadows, highlights, and midtones of your image.

Increase micro-contrast around fine edges on the image, which causes the edges to stand out more and appear to be in sharper focus.

Create the appearance of a film negative that has been exposed to light during development.

Split Toning

Create cinematic color grades by applying a separate hue to your highlights and/or shadows. Adjust strength and highlight/shadow balance for different effects or lock the relative position on the color wheel to maintain color harmony while adjusting hues.

Straighten Tool

Draw your ideal horizontal horizon, and then rotate the image accordingly. Pair this with the Layout tools, which allow you to align different elements in your scene without any fuss.

Surface Blur

This effect locates edges within the layer and applies a blur to the areas between the edges while leaving the edge detail intact.

Quickly tile an image without the need for layer duplication.

Convert your image to a two-tone color scheme by turning your darkest areas into one color and the brightest areas to another.

Tone Coloring

Tone coloring applies hue shifts to specific tonal ranges of your layer. Unlike Color Adjustment, which applies adjustments based on color selections, Tone coloring alters color based on tonal selections or luminosity.

Subtly or dramatically darken the edges of your frame using this effect. Vignettes help naturally draw the viewer’s eye toward the center of the frame and your subject.

White Balance

Correct the color of inaccurate whites with this tool. You can also use it to warm or cool the colors in the image overall. You can manually correct the white balance using the temperature and tint sliders, but it is usually faster and more effective to start by setting the neutral color.

Zoom Blur

This effect works by blurring the image outward from a specified center point, creating a similar effect to quickly extending a zoom lens during the exposure.
