Text crawling at 90°. Is this possible in one layer?

Hi, guys!

Is it possible to have a text crawling on 2 walls of the same building? I mean like start on a wall and when it reaches the corner it will continue to crawl on the other wall...

Put it another way, starting on one face of a cube and continue on another face of the same cube.

I don't know if this is possible inside of Hitfilm, in one layer. All I see in Boris tools are bending effects which do not change text direction as I want it.

Please help,

Gabriel

  • @GabrielTudor As far as I know, you'd have to do it in a few different layers. Your background layer, the first wall, and the second wall. If you need to keep it simple, make use of composites and embedded composites. Create your unaltered title crawl in one comp so you can edit it later if needed. Make a new comp, then bring in 2 copies of the crawl. Use 3d transform or quad warp and mask the parts you don't need. There might be other ways to do it, but they would likely also involve multiple layers and probably be more work. @FilmSensei might be your best bet for alternative solutions.

@triforcefx, I did it with 2 composite shots like you can see here

but it would have been nice if Hitfilm or Boris had an effect that would let you set a point inside a text layer and shift that text according to your liking, so you would be able to make it crawl on whatever building/shape you want. I find this to be more useful than bending text. Don't you?

Indeed it would be nice to have tools like that... I'd love to be able to replace something like this without much hassle. Add it to the wishlist. I'll 1+ it.

  • @triforcefx, Yeap, that is exactly what I'm talking about! I added to the Wishlist: https://fxhome.com/forum/discussion/comment/135515/#Comment_135515
