How is it used in after effects? The effect does not read 3d layers or cameras.
While a complete dodge of your question, you could always use the Camera Projection that is built into After Effects. Wren the Reaper has an excellent tutorial here:
For the Ignite version, I'm afraid I can't help, since I no longer have Ae. Still, Projection works in a fairly similar fashion in Hitfilm itself, and, whether using Ae native or Hitfilm Ignite you should still get the same results.
