How it works

Stage 1 of the FXhome Awards involves the community nominating their favourite movies and FXhomers. These nominations will be counted to create the shortlist that is used in Stage 2 for the final awards voting.

The categories

There are six categories this year, giving you the opportunity to highlight what was best about the FXhome.com user movies and community in 2009:
  • Best Cinematography
  • Best Special Effects
  • Best Movie
  • Best Filmmaker
  • Most Helpful FXhomer
  • Most Inspiring FXhomer

How to nominate

The Awards have their own special page on the website, where you can currently select your nominations in each of the six categories.

Click here to select your nominations!

You don't have to choose all your nominations at the same time, as the system allows you to come back to finish the form at any time. You've got until March 15th, at which point we announce the shortlists!

If you think you're in with a chance at being nominated, now's the time to start campaigning.

Good luck everyone!

The prizes

In addition to the prestige of winning an FXhome Award, this year we've got some great prizes for the winners from Tubetape and ISM Films, including filmmaking equipment and subscriptions to ISM's new Sneak On The Lot service.

We'll have more details on the prizes later in the month.

'After Midnight' for cinematography!

After midnight was filmed by myself with the Canon 7D and was one of the very first cinema uploads to use such a camera.

Anyway...

good luck everyone, this was a very good year for FXhome.

Nice, getting in their fast, Rockfilmers. Good luck!

It was a pretty varied year. I've had quite some trouble selecting my choices - I'm still pondering what I'll choose for Best Movie, as there's about 5-or-so movies I really can't choose between!

Was also cool to see some filmmakers being so prolific - Sollthar, Atom and ben3308 in particular. Be interesting to see if having so many decent films in the running ends up splitting the vote for those guys.

To those whom it might concern - PM-ing everybody asking them to vote for you will just lead to a lot of PM's and be a pain in the backside for everyone. In the same way I never buy Viagra from spammers, I am massively less likely to vote for anyone who pesters me

What???

No category for "Most Irrelevant Forum Member, 50 and Over, Who's Never Made a Film"?

I guess I won't be flying to London to accept any awards this year...

Heh, maybe next time we'll consider the "Who is that guy anyway?" award.

Starting to wish I had uploaded my 2009 works into the cinema Curse my laziness.

Glad we brought the FXhome awards around for another year! I'm not sure if I can make a decision on one or two of these subjects! We had so many great films (not to mention great filmmakers) over the last year, picking just one seems unfair But hopefully all the deserving will get nominated.

No Editing?

Ah well, you'll see some campaigning from our camp soon enough. Although it's going to be a toss-up as to which movie to push for which awards- we certainly don't want big time vote-splitting, but we want all of our movies (one of them the all-time #1 movie in the archive ) to have their fair shot.

Then there's the filmmaker awards. Ben and I might be upset with eachother over those...

Nice. I've always liked these community-strengthening events, and I'm happy to see this one continuing. Too bad 'Community Spotlights' didn't have the same legs

Good luck to all (potential) nominees!

(SneakOn.com seems rather odd, I'd have to say. Care to explain a bit more perchance?)
