    Extra @SimonKJones interview? Extra epic!

  • The tutorial I’ve been waiting for!

is this doable in hitfilm pro 4?

@GodofThunder this, sir, was possible in Hitfilm Pro 3.

Simon actually did a three part series on the projector years ago.

    Part 1 covers virtual sets.

Simon uses one of my tests as an example--I point it out because I also put 3D models in the rig. Also if you set the projector planes as deflectors your virtual set can be filled with smoke or have bouncing sparks, explosions and other interactive particle effects as well!

Part 2 shows how to wrap 2D effects into projected space.

And part three shows how to use projection to create clean plates by removing objects from video!

Thanks for reply! Seen those vids thanks, just wasn’t sure if the more than basic projection was possible.

Sorry for the dumb question but I’ve not played with HFP4 for a long time. Edit: also understanding camera projection (regardless of how many vids I watch) never ‘clicks’ with me doh

  • PS Triem I’ve always loved your example

  • Thanks for the interview opportunity! Triem - I'd forgotten about that trilogy of tutes, and that I'd done the first Splinter Cell movie with the pre-release beta version of HitFilm. I wouldn't normally recommend using beta software for actual production, but it all worked out fine! :)
