HitFilm Pro 2017 Update #3

New audio features for a faster workflow. In the latest HitFilm Pro 2017 update we’ve taken your feedback on board and done what we can to implement the features you want – while making some great improvements to the existing features.

In the latest HitFilm Pro 2017 update we’ve taken your feedback on board and done what we can to implement the features you want – while making some great improvements to the existing features. The new features are designed to help the user workflow and stem directly from the feedback and requests we got from you, the community.

This big update brings some major changes to HitFilm’s audio handling abilities, including the ability to view waveforms in Composite Shot timelines among other things. Here are a couple of features I’m particularly excited to share with you:

  • Audio waveforms can now be viewed in composite shot timelines. This is a great feature which allows for a more organic and fluid work flow when working on your composite shots.
  • Improved support for Retina and High DPI displays which means you can now use multiple displays with different scaling levels and HitFilm will display correctly across them all. A feature which a number of people have been requesting so we’re pleased to announce this is now implemented.

Here’s the full list of changes:

HitFilm Pro 2017

Features

  • Audio waveforms can now be viewed in composite shot timelines.
  • Improvements to Audio waveform rendering time. This is fairly self explanatory and a great improvement allowing your work to speedy up, which is always useful.
  • Improved support for Retina and High DPI. Using multiple displays with different scaling levels and HitFilm will display correctly across them all.
  • The Save Composition As… command now defaults to the name of the Composite. Allowing for a nicer and more simple user experience.
  • Audio waveforms can now be drawn on a logarithmic scale rather than a linear scale, so they better match the logarithmic display of the audio meters. Both options are available in the Options screen.

Fixes

  • Fixed a bug where two different dialog warnings of incompatibility would appear when importing footage into the HitFilm demo.
  • Fixed a bug where Effects presets could not be created on the Editor timeline.
  • AVI files exported from HitFilm now display thumbnails properly.
  • Fixed a bug with FBX animation not displaying properly when applied to a 3D model.
  • Killed a bug where Reset Current View could negatively impact viewer performance.
  • Fixed a crash involving the Equalizer effect combined with audio transitions.
  • Corrected a bug in mocha that would cause it to not register the license when launched.
  • Fixed a crash that would occur when creating a composite shot from a layer that had been tracked in mocha.
  • Fixed a bug when editing export presets, where disabling and re-enabling video or audio streams could enable options that would cause the export to fail.
  • Fixed a bug that could occur when rebuilding a proxy on a layer containing the mocha plugin.
  • Fixed a bug where some exported files couldn’t be edited in Windows Explorer if the project involved mocha.
  • The Workspace menu now closes properly after the Reset Workspace is selected.
  • Fixed a bug where setting timeline to match your media wouldn’t update the project settings properly.
  • Eliminated a bug that would cause audio waveforms to be recreated unnecessarily.
  • Fixed a bug where the Editor would sometimes not auto-extend to fit longer footage.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when replacing assets.

If you’ve missed out on our previous HitFilm Pro 2017 updates, here’s some of the best bits:

Update #1 Features

  • Allow 3D model properties dialog to be resized.
  • Double clicking an item should display and auto scroll to that item. So no need spend time scrolling up and down searching for what you need.
  • Wire Removal effect. A feature I’m super excited about which allows you to easily remove wire frames in shot, which has some really amazing potential.

Update #2 Features

  • .PNG Exports should default to the fastest Compression method for Export.
  • New plugin presets for: Channel Blur, Channel Mixer, Channel Time Shift, Exposure and Fractal Noise.
  • Retain transitions when a Slide, Ripple, or Roll Edit is performed.

Thanks again to our whole community for your feedback on the software. We’re always trying to improve. Is there something you would like to see added to future updates? Tell us in the comments!
