It’s that time again! We’re aware you’ve all been patiently awaiting the release of the latest version of HitFilm Express, so we’re delighted to announce that version 13 is now here and ready to download.
Here’s what the new release includes:
Layer and Track Locking
You can now lock layers and tracks in both the editor and composite shots, making it easier than ever to work on your project without fear of accidentally changing something you didn’t want to.
Masking from the Editor
You read that right. Masking can now be done directly from the editor timeline, saving time and effort when you need to do a quick compositing job without jumping into a composite shot.
Upgraded to Mocha HitFilm 6.0.3 [add-on]
HitFilm Express’ optional planar tracker – Mocha HitFilm – is being updated to be in line with the newest Mocha updates. Bug fixes and minor improvements should streamline the processes of planar tracking and rotoscoping.
Support for Cinematic 4K
HitFilm Express already supports the consumer-standard 4K resolution of UHD (3840 x 2160 pixels) used in TV and digital media. However, it now also offers support for DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) which is the standard for 4K cinema. This means your productions will be theater-ready and can be matched to the full resolution of higher-quality 4K cameras.
LUT Intensity Slider
When it comes to grading, there’s really no one-size-fits-all. When applying a LUT in HitFilm Express 13, you can now decide how much you want to affect the original image with the handy strength slider, giving you total freedom over the final look of your clip.
File Handling Improvements
With the help of your feedback we’ve improved file support and handling. HitFilm Express now supports files with multiple audio streams and handles audio sync better for files captured by screen-capture software (Great news for those of you with gaming channels or tutorial channels!). MP3 files with multiple ID3 tags are also now supported, and MP3, MP4, Cineform and H.264 files all now have improved support too.
Improved Video Playback + Stability Improvements
Playback performance has been improved while GPU acceleration is not in use, and we’ve went on a bug-crushing mission to improve the overall stability of HitFilm Express.
When new images, videos and assets are imported, they are now automatically selected in the media panel so you don’t lose momentum searching for them. Full-screen mode now maximizes the use of available screen space, and we’ve also made a few adjustments to the internal dialogues to keep you inside the zone.
The ribbon bar now provides information on what updates are available, so you can always be equipped with all of the newest features in the latest version of HitFilm Express.
These are just some of the changes that you’ll benefit from in the latest version of HitFilm Express. These updates are only made possible by the feedback we get from you all, so this is as much your achievement as it is ours! Don’t forget to let us know if there’s anything you’d like to see changed in the next version of HitFilm Express.
