PhotoKey install instructions
Thank you for purchasing PhotoKey! The instructions on this page will help you get started, guiding you through the downloading and installation process. After following the instructions below you will be ready to create your first PhotoKey composite.
Who are FXhome?
FXhome is the developer of the PhotoKey software. Even if you bought the product from another retailer, the FXhome.com website is always the place to visit to find the latest version of the software.
Don’t forget to check out our forums if you need any help and the PhotoKey Gallery if you want to show off your latest creations!
Stage 1: Online activation
Note: If you bought PhotoKey from the FXhome.com online store or if you’ve already activated your product on the website, skip to Stage 2.
If you bought PhotoKey from another retailer you will first need to register your purchase at the FXhome.com website.
Point your browser at this website: http://fxhome.com/products/activation
Enter your name and email address into the appropriate fields.
Choose a password. This will be used to create an account at FXhome.com that you can always use to access your files.
You will have been provided with a PhotoKey serial code. Enter this code into the five boxes on the web page.
Click the ‘Activate’ button to complete the process.
Once activation is successful you will be notified.
A new button will have appeared called ‘Downloads & Key Files’. Click this to proceed to the next stage.
Stage 2: Downloading
Note: We highly recommend using Mozilla Firefox for downloading from FXhome.com.
The latest version of PhotoKey can always be found at FXhome.com.
Every FXhome software product requires two files to be downloaded. The installer contains the program itself, while a ‘key file’ is used to activate it on your computer. Both need to be downloaded to your computer.
Note: If you have already followed the instructions in Stage 1, you can skip the first three steps below.
Point your browser at this website: http://fxhome.com/account/downloads
If you are not already logged into the FXhome.com website you will be asked to do so. Enter the email address and password you used when registering at the website.
Click the ‘Login’ button.
On the next screen you need to enter your password a second time for security purposes.
Click the ‘submit’ button.
On your downloads page you will see PhotoKey listed. There are three download links available – the ‘product key file’, a ‘Win installer’ and a ‘Mac installer’.
Right click (or Ctrl click for Mac users) on the ‘Product Key File’ button and select ‘Save Link As...’ from the menu. Download the key file to your computer’s desktop.
If you are on a Windows computer, right click on the ‘Win installer’ button and select ‘Save Link As...’ (or equivalent) from the menu. Download the installer to your computer’s desktop.
If you are on a Mac computer, Ctrl click on the ‘Mac installer’ button and select ‘Save Link As...’ (or equivalent) from the menu. Download the installer to your computer’s desktop.
You now have everything you need to install PhotoKey.
Note: You do not need to open the key file yourself, so just leave it on the desktop for now.
Stage 3: Installation
Installing PhotoKey is a simple process.
Double-click the ‘FXhome_PhotoKey_Installer’ file on the desktop to begin the process, then follow the on-screen instructions.
Stage 4: Software Activation
The first time PhotoKey is launched it will automatically locate your key file and activate itself.
If PhotoKey cannot find your key file on your computer’s desktop it will ask you to locate the key file manually. Simply use the standard file browser to locate the downloaded key file.
PhotoKey is now ready to use!
