SectionsBluescreen A now generic term that describes the process of filming against a monochrome background, then creating a matte that removes the monochrome background, leaving only the foreground subject. This can then be composited onto a new background. Commonly used with a blue background, although recently green has also become popular. Originally an optical process but is now almost exclusively digital. See also; greenscreen, chromakey, composite |
