Hi,

I am a relatively new user to Effects Lab Pro and have done a couple of small projects using it.

Here is the second one

http://fxhome.com/cinema/preview/3852

One of the comments said that using some grading may help, but I am not that sure on both how to use the grading tools and what grading would make the project look any better.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Grading is the use of tools like filters to alter the mood of footage. Like dark, sinister for a horror movie. Or bright and cheery for a happy movie. It is also what separates raw footage (with effects) and the finshed cut. While Effectslab isn't designed for grading you can still do some good techniques. this video was done with v-lab but is a great overview of some possibilities.
You can click the FX icon on the object to apply a grading preset or right click the object and hit apply preset. Both work the same. it will take alittle while to get but again, it's a great tool.

The best place to start with grading is to experiment with the presets. Add a Grade Object (from the Effects tab) as the top layer of your project, then click the FX icon next to it on the timeline. You can then try out the various presets available, and look at a small preview comparing the raw footage to the graded footage, to see if any of them look good to you. when you find one that you like, look at the list of filters it includes, to get a better understanding of how the grade filters can affect your footage.

Pfft no one cares Wes.

RussN - This is a nice reel off original and after footage. I would suggest looking at a lot off these types of videos, investigate your surroundings and inspect other professional films and notice how the color correction goes with the times of day and mood etc.
