Hi everyone. I have another blood question.
So the effect I wanted to create is that blood spot/drop on the camera lens. You know, like after someone (war movie) gets shot and you want some blood to splatter on the lens. I'm not talking tons of gore and blood, just a little spot to add some realism. Something noticeable but not focused on, both by the audience and blurry. I only have Effects lab Pro, so no green screening. Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

(A good example of this is Saving Private Ryan when the troops first run onto the beach. There is a little bit of blood on the lens)

You can try using a technique similar to Penguin's 'Water on Camera' which was made with the optics engine.

yeah, that seems like a good idea. I was hoping for a more realistic effect (possibly stock footage). But that is definitely a good back up, and probably what I will be using.

Can you put a bit of glass in front of your camera, shoot some white paper/wall, and flick blood on the glass? That'll give you something to composite in.
Reading this invokes the curse of the tiny sig! Until you break the curse you'll get random MPEG artifacting on all your shoots bwahahahahaaaaa!

You can only break the curse by giving me +1 on the next 3 of my posts that you read, then you will be free again, but beware of the power of the tiny text curse, it never fails!

Thanks everyone for your input. However, I think I have discovered the effect I was looking for. If I use the particle engine to create a few bubbles and give them a red color, it works very well. But this leads to another question. Is there a way to keep the bubbles in one place without them moving like they normally would in a particle simulation for a long period of time?

You can export the frame with alpha channels and simply overlay that exported image in your NLE.
