Hehe, nice work there simon! Some amazing bits of compositing work in there. It's really great to see what you're able to pull off in that respect - having seen the footage you worked with. Great attention to detail and little things that make this area stand out the most imo.

Fun!

Nice work indeed! It's great to see a combination of techniques being brought together, I especially like the use of miniatures!

I'd also like to say well done on the costumes and make-up. Good stuff.

Thanks guys! Much appreciated. It was a challenging demo film to make - far trickier than Beach Landing or Superheroes - but I'm pretty happy with how it came out in the end.

Although some of the model shots came out a leeeeeeetle wobbly, I'd highly recommend people trying out miniatures, they're great fun to play with.

The tutorial DVD should be along in a couple of weeks!

Really cool stuff.

I did feel like the cinematography was a little uninspired at points (cutting to too similar of an angle, maybe just because it was a better key or better take) but that didn't drag it down as a whole. Some genuinely cool moments, and the styling of the effects works well in that they fit the tone and 'coolness' of most of the movie. Backgrounds, models, costuming all solid; so production values are obviously there. Keying, too, is well done and feels a bit ethereal - but that fits the movie, I think.

In the end, the final product is very polished and high quality, and that's ace work. Good job!

Pretty good... The Lifting of the soldier off of the walkway looked fake, and the light saber duel was a bit short but other than that...

Oh, I loved the lifting of the soldier off the walkway bit. I though the animation of the soldier had an excellent comical feel to it, though a bit more movement from the actor toward the end of his fall may have made it even better.

I look forward to the DVD, as I'm sure many of us aren't realizing how complex this actually was to put together. Seeing the breakdowns will make it even more impressive, I'm sure.

Well holy crap! If that wasn't bad-ass... I don't know what is.
Yes there are a few parts that look... Weird? but over all, this is amazing! I really liked that first "force" jump. It looked way better and more realistic than how they do it in the actual star wars movies.

I liked "everything" about this short but was extremely impressed by Solthar's 3D work and how well you composited everything together. Wow! You guys are getting good... I'm talking 'bout real good!
