I am running CPL on my XP laptop. I would like to view the software on my external monitor, when in dual-screen mode.

I can do this with most software without a problem. Most software has, at the right top corner, three view mode buttons -- a minimise, a maximise, and an "in-between" button. Normally, I just select in-between, then drag the application from my laptop screen to the external monitor.

But CLP has only two modes -- maximise and minmise. Thus there is no obvious (to me at least) way to drag it to my external monitor.

I'd be grateful for any advice.

The way I've done it is the same way I'd move any box, have it smaller than full screen size, then click and hold on the top blue bar, and just drag it across in the direction of the other monitor.

What I'm saying is that as there is no "in-between" setting, so I cannot make it smaller than full size (except for fully minimising it).

I can only make it full size (immovable) or minimised (immovable).

In my experience of FXhome lab products there is no in between setting. I haven't worked with dual screens so I can''t offer anymore advice,
Good luck.

You can set the size of the display window in the Preferences. Go to Edit - Preferences, un-tick the Full Screen box, and enter the resolution you would like the program to display at.

Not quite as convenient, but gets the same results.

Thanks Axe, but...I've tried this, with no joy. I've unchecked the "Display as fullscreen" box and entered lower values than the default 800 x 600, and clicked OK. Doing so has no effect; the display is the same, and when I go back to Edit / Preferences, the original 800 x 600 values are still there.

Ah, 800 x 600 is pretty small already; that might be the minimum size for the interface. I'll have a look and see. How small did you want to make it?

Thanks Axe.

Just small enough to make it unmaximised, temporarily, so that I can then drag it to the external monitor, after which I'd maximise it again. As it stands, maximised on the laptop screen, I cannot drag it to the external monitor.

And 800 x 600 is the maximized size? Meaning your monitor resolution is 800x600?

800 x 600 seems to be the absolute smallest the GUI can go, as otherwise you wouldn't be able to see the various components of the interface.

Hi Axe,

I'm not sure what the laptop screen size is, it's pretty standard, I think maybe 15 inches. Regarding the application, I can only tell you this:

-- When I launch it, everything is pretty visible, including menu headings etc.

-- I go to Edit / Preferences, and uncheck "Maximise". The existing default values in the boxes are 800 x 600. I click OK -- I assume that means the resolution is supposed to go to 800 x 600.

-- But after clicking OK, in fact nothing happens. Nor is there any change if I set it to, say, 600 x 400, or to 900 x 700.

Beats me.

At the end of the day, I can live with it not being usable on my external monitor; it would just be nice if I could do so. So don't waste your Sunday on this!

regards

Ken

Oh, sorry, you have to restart the application for the resolution change to take effect. I forgot to mention that. Set the resolution to 880x600, then close and restart CompositeLab and that should do it.
