Cinema 4D? Its $1000 or more. The demo is free, but the software itself is more pricey.

Fine use of the Wilhelm Scream...definitely got a laugh out of that! Surprised no one commented on it yet

Heh, I specifically requested that the sound editor put that in.

I agree there are a couple of wobbly shots in this (literally, in the case of the miniature), but overall I'm really pleased.

Contrast it with the Beach Landing sketch, which had about 8 effects shots in total. Assault has more like 50 effects shots, so it was a pretty big challenge.

Glad people are liking Sollthar's backdrops. The speed with which he created those was incredible. As is always the case with these things, both he and I wish we'd had a bit more time to add more detail, but his ability to hit exactly what I wanted in first draft was remarkable. Can't wait to work with him again on something else.

Oh, I loved the lifting of the soldier off the walkway bit. I though the animation of the soldier had an excellent comical feel to it, though a bit more movement from the actor toward the end of his fall may have made it even better.

I look forward to the DVD, as I'm sure many of us aren't realizing how complex this actually was to put together. Seeing the breakdowns will make it even more impressive, I'm sure.

I did enjoy this. Not a star wars fan but this was fun. I agree the lifting of the guard was a bit dodgy and the minature a bit shakey, too me back to the 70's and shows like Blakes 7 Overall very nich though. This will probably be the first tutorial DVD I buy from you guys. It's gonna be a good one I can feel it

Nope, I wasn't involved in this at all.

Very nice little short and in true star wars style guards can't hit anything. The backgrounds look amazing and the compositing is spot on, I also love the little bit of details such as the dust/clouds moving in the wide shot even though you hardly notice them at first.

You've got a lot of movement in the camera, was all the movement tracked in vision lab or another program? or was it shot at a higher res so that you could add effects, then re-render at a lower res allowing you a lot of freedom to 'move' the camera?

The latter, it was all shot at 720p or above, but the final mix was at PAL resolution.

Yeah, I loved the Wilhelm scream. I was waiting for it because a few months ago you asked if it was copyrighted. I'm like "Oh..." Made the movie seem more pro-made, since all the high-budget/A list films use it. I thought that was a good idea.

While it's true that the close-ups of the model weren't rock solid, the wider shots and those in space where beautiful. The low-angle shot of the craft rising to the mouth of the shaft with that glowing sunshine was particularly nice.
