He drives, she chews bubblegum. Both need to be somewhere. She's in a hurry, he's not really.

Short comedy. If you've been in a long term relationship, you might get more out of this.

I've got to be honest - I wasn't quite "feeling" this. The situation, the bickering over minutiae and the impatience were all spot on as far as getting the plot right on paper, but weren't really delivered in way that illustrated all those unspoken coupley frustrations which make the minutiae seem worth arguing about at the time.

The reason for every "lover's tiff" is almost never the actual subject matter you're fighting over and I didn't really feel this showed that. Its the seemingly irrational reactions which stem from years of squabbling which are a comedy goldmine, and were obviously the key to series like One Foot In The Grave, but as your short only shows the arguments, not really the reactions, the acting/comedy seemed dry. You don't get any sense of the loving-but-overly-tolerant nature of couples which makes makes these arguments funny to a bystander - the rolling of eyes, the despairing shrugs, the gritting of teeth etc, but I didn't really see these.

I didn't expect the punchline, but by the time it came I didn't feel the tension had built up sufficiently for the punchline to offer comic relief.

Hehe, sorry to hear you can identify with the situation.

Allthough I can identify with it too obviously. My parents noticed they were the influence for certain moments in the film, still could laugh about it. So all the better.

The thing is indeed "dry". I'm known for having an utter, utter dry humour so people can't really tell if I'm joking or not. To me, a situation is the funnier the less funny it appears. But obviously, that's not for everyone. Humour never is.

Brilliant and slick.
This is even more funny than your previous comedy.I loved the acting,so believable and the memories of similiar trips (not the same destination of course) with my wife made me laugh out loud ,in particular the traffic light sequence...brilliant.
It really is a great comical look at couples at their best...
Your green screen work is perfection itself .
Well done Marco...

This was entirely awesome. Great work with your lighting as always, I don't see how you get everything to look so good but whatever you're doing... it works. It took me a second to realize that you used a green screen so good job with that as well. I've seen this done in movies and several t.v. shows and they didn't look nearly as good as your compositing.

I liked the humor personally, dry humor isn't necessarily bad, I actually prefer it most times because you're not overdoing it and your actors aren't trying too hard to be funny "overacting" which makes the delivery of the punch line that much smoother. I liked the bickering between the couple alot since that really happens in day to day life and most times it happens for no reason other than the couple just wanting to argue.

Again, awesome job.

Frank.

Thanks a lot! Humour is very hit and miss so I'm glad some share our sense for comedy.

There is a youtube version, but I've not yet linked it. You can find it here:

I thought it was really funny. Can't say I sympathize, being 14, but that doesn't really matter. It did remind me of my mom and dad; she goes crazy while he sits there and laughs. I especially liked the "red light" part. It reflected my parents' personalities so perfectly.

Really enjoyed this. Like the others, my favourite moment is the traffic light, because it's so wonderfully silly and absurdist - like the whole world at that point is existing and configuring itself purely to piss off these two people.

I also like the positive ending, which I wasn't expecting after all the arguing. It was nice to see the overall conclusion being "yeah, we argue, but it doesn't matter really, and we still love each other." It was an unexpected flash of optimism in an otherwise very droll and subdued piece.

Also: Really good acting.

I really liked this - a fun short comedy and one I, despite being 19, can somewhat relate to. Some great use of greenscreen compositing too, which really helps sell it. I've told you several times before, but the Wunderbaum throw scene always cracks me up. The film ends a bit abrupt for my taste, but then again, it is a short film, and a great executed one at that.

5/5 - of course
