i have a JVC everio camcorder, it uses an 8GB SD card, whenever i go to the little folder import icon and try to find my video file it simply doesn't show up in the file i saved it in. this only happens when i open my folder in Videostudio though.
the file is an MPEG-4 file type and quicktime ready. What's happening that the program doesn't recognize my file. Help me!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pretty please with sugar on top. and if you haven't guessed yet i'm an amateur amateur filmaker.

Welcome.

Visionlab (and the other FXHome video products) work with .avi and .mov formats.

While .mp4 opens with QuickTime, .mp4s do not work in FXHome because it's a compressed format.

You'll need to convert it.

Hope this helps.
Check the FXHome GENERAL PRODUCT FAQ the question you want to ask, may already be here.

Garrison s absolutely correct. To add to what he said, you should be able to use your video editing software to convert it to a format that is compatible with VisionLab. What video editor are you using?

DV-AVi from windows movie maker is what's accepted. Careful, it's a large file though.
