Hello, about 5 years ago I purchased AlamDV2. I have been using it since that time. I just recently switched to Mac and tried installing the program and it gave me the error "The document "AlamDV2 Installer Dev" could not be opened because it is damaged or imcomplete."

Now I know there is the new effectslab which replaced AlamDV2.. but does this mean I have to buy a whole new program again? I really don't want to fork out the money when AlamDV2 was working just fine for what I needed.

Thanks

Actually, after taking a look; it looks like to old AlamDV licenses were cross-platform as well. However, an OS X version of AlamDV was never released. Its that old.

Would you expect Microsoft to give you a free/discounted Mac version of Office because you purchased Office XP for PC 5 years ago? I don't mean to sound harsh, but c'mon. 5 years!

You're a few years to late. I purchased AlamDV 2 and got EffectsLab Lite for free, so it's not like Fxhome is trying to rip anyone off. In any case it shouldn't take to long to save up the money to buy EffectsLab. It's a much better application and can do all the same stuff.

Or you could wait until Monday where a member off the FXhome core team can tell you what you can do with your AlamDV

The last release for AlamDV2 was in June 2002, and it was a classic program, not compatible with OS X. It had to run in the Classic environment. Toward the end there, they did release an OS X version of the plug-in creator, but the program itself never got out of Classic.

If you've got classic installed, then yeah, maybe you can get the Windows version working there.

We are talking about a 7+ year old program here. Given the MASSIVE changes to the Mac platform in that time (unlike the PC platform, which despite XP, Vista and Win7 has remained largely the same) it's not surprising that there are going to be a few compatibility issues.

There were discounted upgrade offers for AlamDV users for many years but, again, it's just been too long. Unfortunately we can't keep such offers open indefinitely.

However, you did purchase AlamDV2 during the period which qualified you for a free version of EffectsLab Lite. You would have been contacted at the time about this. I'll send you a private message with your upgrade code.

Do bear in mind that EffectsLab Lite is also a very old program which is no longer supported.
