Film vs. Digital: some observations...

Redsharknews has an interesting article about the current debate over celluloid vs pixels in the industry. Having my toe in the water as a student of animation and motion graphics design, I will probably never use film in my endeavors.

That said, I also dabble in still photography, where--in my humble opinion--this debate began. Enjoy!

  • Here is a film that deals with the same issue. Its really great and worth watching:

  • I remember this being a huge debate around the turn of the century, back when Lucas was first bringing in digital cameras with Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones. Interesting how there's been a resurgence in the last couple of years on the subject.

Ideally filmmakers would be able to shoot on whatever they prefer, but that gets increasingly tricky as actual film stock becomes rarer and more expensive.
