HitFilm Express 2017 has encountered a problem

Hello there! I just recently downloaded Hitfilm Express recently, and while it initially started up, when I tried to start a brand new project, the program froze, and when I tried to start it up again, it kept giving me a message saying that HitFilm Express 2017 has encountered a problem. This continued even after I uninstalled and tried reinstalling it.

I looked at my specs and I think they're at the very least what's required, I could be wrong, but I'm not entirely sure why this is happening.

My specs are: 

Windows 10 Home (version 1709)

Processor: Intel Core i7-5500U CPU @ 2.40GHz


64-bit operating system, x64-based processor. All of my drivers are updated, and my laptop is an Acer.
