How do I transform a 3D Smoke Effect using a Point?

I have used motion tracking to get a point on my video that stays with my object, but cant seem to make sure that my 3D smoke effectmoved with my point.

I've tried setting the parent layer of the effect as the point and vice-versa. It just stays in the same place.

How could I do this?

    In the missle smoke effect controls look for "Position," then select the 3D point layer there. 

  • The point layer is not 3D and I am using the normal Smoke effect, not the missile one.

    Point layer can be 2D/3D,doesn't matter. Control is the same in smoke, missle smoke, bonfire, and pretty much all particle effects.  

  • It appears as though it's working, but it is "lagging", per se. It's slow to respond to the video footage moving when using keyframing.

  • tell us your hardware spec's.

  • CPU: AMD Athlon x4 860k

    GPU: nVidia GTX 970

    8gb RAM

  • have you more than 1 particle emitter? or is your video in mp4.

    my 970gtx have lags too, when i do more as 1 emitter in same comp. (or complicate comps with smoke, blur, 3d object and shadows).... in this case i set the preview quality from "full" to "med" or "quarter"
