I noticed in the new Hit film star wars fan film there was 3d models and it said it was made in Hitfilm express. Can you now use 3d models in express? Because if you can that would be GREAT!
A little bit of marketing speak here. As I understand it, two shots required Hitfilm Pro, and the final output render was from Pro to take full advantage of the 4k footage.
Unfortunately, HF4E cannot import 3D models.
Triem is correct - while the majority of the film can be made in Express, Express does not have 3D model import as this is Pro-only. This is alluded to on the Rebellion page.
This was a deliberate move on our part, to create some tutorial content for Pro users alongside the majority of tutorials being targeted at Express users.
Also, you can still use shots involving 3D models in Express, as long as you animate the models and render them elsewhere. Then you can use HitFilm 4 Express to composite the rendered model into your footage. This is a tried and true method that has been used successfully for a very long time.
