A short film for my A2 Media studies. This film has been in production for just over a year. I shot a promotional trailer to see if I could tackle the horror genre, this then became the foundations for the film plot. The film features some of the same cast as seen in the promotional trailer, I also re-shot some of the scenes. The film was intended to be a horror/action film that builds up good suspense, I also aimed it at 15 - 30 year olds. Anyone considering doing media studies - I strongly recommend the subject, but do bear in mind that it requires A LOT of reseach. Because this film cost me about £200 to produce, (I know, it's not a lot to the film industry) I was originally going to sell it on DVD along with all the extra stuff, but in the end I decided that all I really want is for people to view it, so here it is... If you like it, give me a good rating ;-)

Plot:
With humanity in ruins after a viral outbreak,
survivors are left hiding from the terrrifying plague victims. Katie, a young teenager, and her Brother are just 2 of those survivors, Taking refuge in an old barn.
Once rescue becomes possible it’s suddenly apparent that there are even wore things lurking in the shadows. This...is Katie’s Story

YOU HAVE NO STORY!
Despite this, I still got 98 marks out of 100 and passed my course with flying colours. You say it's centred around the visual effects, how is that bad? considering it's what I'm applying for university to further study.

Believable standard? Are you serious? Acting students NEVER make good actors just as medical students could never make good doctors. Just as physicians have to “practice” medicine, actors must “practice” their craft to be good at it. There are many resources for good actors who know how to take direction. Viktorious, directors should NEVER have to TEACH an actor anything. A director can be likened to a painter; he is the artist and the actors are his paint. He simply conveys what he wants to show in his picture and the actors should know how to give him or her what they want. The bottom line here is, the film is being centered around the special effects, which is a HUGE mistake. Give me the story, Who, what, when, where, why and how. WHO is the main character, WHERE are they and WHY are they in this story. WHAT are they trying to accomplish, WHEN is this taking place and HOW are they going to make it happen? This would NEVER survive a true film festival because YOU HAVE NO STORY!

Nice makeup and blood but the acting needs some work. May be the actors fault, but the director should effect the acting.
The actors are mostly all A level performing arts students, I did try to get the best out of them and gave them as much motivation as possible but it was about -15 degrees and we were all a bit fed up. If I were to re shoot this I'd defiantly replace a lot of the cast. But I think their performance was of a believable standard.
