A.B Semper Fi

By Jonathan Damborg of JD Films

Rating:

This is my first "real" action shortfilm, and im pretty satisfied with the result.
The short film was planned, shot, and edited within one week, and I used Visionlab studio, After Effects and Sony vegas for the editing and the effects.

the weaponexpert Jack Smith gets kidnapped, because of his knowledge about the secret weapon program, and his previous partnership with the African guy Joe. Luckily the former agent Adam Bolton is ready for one last mission.
I know that the Story isn't original, but we just wanted to make a classic actionmovie.
please comment so I know what to improve in my next film;)

thanks for commenting. The shortfilm was made for a schoolproject, so I had to use my classmates as actors. But I understand what you mean;) The Agent stepped on a laserbeam, which turned on the countdown. I don't know about you, but if it was me watching it, I would guess on a bomb alarm:S you're totally right about the shot with the phone ringing. I should have shortened it a little bit. But if you look carefully you can see a text on the screen. It means "old boss calling" in Danish, which was the meaning with the long close up. But thanks for the good and "bad" comments;D

This post contains spoilers. Watch before reading this unless you don't mind it being spoiled. I realise that you are reasonably young and that you are using what resources and actors you have available. However, to me, having people in their late teens/early 20s playing (retired) agents really takes me out of the story. (The same would happen if an older actor was meant to be playing someone fresh out of high school.) Also, at first I didn't really get what the timer was counting down to until the bad guy said that it was for a bomb. I felt that the close up of the mobile phone ringing went on for too long. I think that it would have worked if you kept just the last part of it (i.e. from where it starts playing its tune) Also in the phone conversation, the levels of the guy on the phone seemed to be a lot higher than the guy who we were seeing talking on the phone, making it a bit difficult to hear. The bullet through the glass looked really good and the whole thing looked very good too. I hope I didn't come across as being too picky or mean about it, but those are my views on it. Keep up the good work !
