As jotoki says, working in the themes more tightly would have helped. For most of the film it's the soldier walking around, with little sense of urgency or danger.
The actual shot he takes works nicely, though - there's no sense of victory or triumph of success. The enemy just slumps to the ground, and it almost feels like failure. An interesting approach!

I liked how this was executed and it makes me feel more confident about a movie I want to shoot and will likely end up doing single handed. Anyway as I said I feel technically well executed for a single handed project but I dont think you really got across the idea that you describe in the details about your film. it needs more to the story. It kind of feels like one scene from a longer movie. Perhaps you should consider expanding on the story and the movie and getting some others involved if you can.
