This is a project my 3rd grade son made for his Quest class this year.
We both love Starwars, really any thing sci-fi that has FX.
This was our first attempt at full motion movies. We had done some stop motion animation with legos and clay characters we sculpted in the past, but he wanted to go full size action for this project.
He came up with the concept, wrote the script (no dialog at this point), story boarded the action. We then shot some practice clips in the back yard and edited them in iMove 09 and played with the green screen tool in iMove.
The final version was shot at a local capmetro station that had a nice park.
We then looked at FX tools. tested out Adobe After Effects. While that is a really nice tool it was too much $$ so we kept looking and found FX Home. These were all still above budget for a 3rd grade project but we bit the bullet and got EffectsLab Pro and used that for the final project you see here.
We love this tool and look forward to our next projects that are currently on the drawing board.
Enjoy!
