Bullet Time Test

By DannyB of Bob & Rodney Studios

Rating:

This is my first test film, inspired by a sequence in a popular recent tv series set in the 80s, of a bullet being fired from a gun in slow motion.

Before anyone mentions anything, I know the gun is an air rifle, and that air rifles don't have muzzle flashes. It's just for the sake of trying out some vfx. Helpful comment much appreciated.

Thanks for the advice guys, like i say its my first test so ill obviously try and improve as much as i can. Yeah apologies for the pointless minute of nothing before the effect i kinda rushed it but never mind. I've got some more tests in production at the moment as well as a short film so ill definately have another go at this bullet time stuff at some point, keepin your comments in mind. ta

sorry dude. I'm gonna be franc with you. I'm gonna give you constructive criticism. 1. About 15% of it is credits. But that's not bad, let's wait. 2. About 80% of it is a guy loading a gun. That's kinda bad, no room for the effects. But lets wait. 3. The last 5% of it is the effect, finally. Now the effect was poor. Nothing special. Just a slowed down muzzle flash and a 2d bullet coming out of a gun. You seem to miss the whole point of bullet time tests. It's not just to show a bullet slowly coming out of a gun, but to show some dimension. If the actor was slightly turned and we saw a more 3dish view of the bullet, this would've been a lot better. Go to the download section, then alamdv plugins, then type 'bullet'. You should get bullets from different angles that will make your test more awesome. Like I said, I'm not trying to boo you, just politely saying that this test sucked. Just messing, this test shows that you are able to do compositing, so with a little more practice you'll get it right. Better luck next time

Pretty good. In the future, though, please make your test videos shorter as 1 minute for 1 gunshot is a bit long. I liked your grading.
