Hi, My name is Hans Polcheck, and I’m a P.I.

X-mas is an amazing time of year; the mistletoe is hanging, the children are laughing, the aliens are landing and all is right with the world… Untill one night I recived a mysterious call… It informed me that something was going down up at the field!

This is a very special X-mas special dedicated to the pioneers of early Sci-Fi drama and film, the brave directors of the 1930s, 40s and 50s who dared to defy logic and plausibility to make something fantastic!

Ahhh love is in the air at x-mas, These are The Polcheck Chronicles. Those who are faint of heart, or weak of stomach had best look away. I hate vomit on my shoes.

But if you can stomach raw danger…
If you can keep your knees from rattling in fear…
If you can handle the excitement of running with the best P.I. in Sydney

Then I bid you welcome….

- Hans Polcheck

Hey Funky, thanks for the comment. Yes indeed the effects had to be handled differently, we wanted them to look "forced", in 1940s/50s sci-fi soaps Laser and Beam effects were often made simply by scratching lines on the film with a needle or cutting out a thin section of film, this meant the light from the projector would shine straight through the film and highlight the edges with a soft glow... We did out best to re-create this effect, but still show that we were able to do better. The most challenging thing was making the effects look "dated" but not "shoddy" Thanks for your comment, I’m glad to see so many people enjoyed the film. MORE TO COME!

I just saw it and thought it was great. Obviously allot of work went into it. I used to watch allot of "B" Sci Fi films (still do!) and thought this was a great tribute. I was somewhat suprised how well the effects work in black & white. Did you have to treat it allot differently, or do they just work that well without any special treatment or grading? Once again, nice Job.
