Ever been sent on an errand to find out you've been duped into getting something different than what you were originally sent to get? Welcome to John's life. But John isn't taking it anymore and is about to get even.
"The List" was our entry for this years i48 film competition. It was written, shot, edited, and submitted in 48 hours with these guidelines:
Genre: Comedy
Prop: 2 purple latex gloves
Character: Ashley Cooper
Line of dialogue: "Ouch! Now that's gonna leave a scar!"
Unfortunately, due to some technical issues, we were 20 minutes late making the deadline and our submission was disqualified. It did get screened with the others though and got the laughs we were hoping for. It was a fun film to shoot and we hope you all enjoy it!

Thanks for the feedback! Jazz, the camera shot you are referring to was attained via the use of a vehicle rig. We have a suction mount system that works off atmospheric pressure with a manfretto fluid head. It works awesome, but you have to be very picky where to place it if your vehicle has thin sheet metal. Thin sheet metal just isn't stable enough to give you a steady shot. The "item" shot on the list was achieved through masking a couple different layers. Jcmedia: yeah, the sound was our weak spot. We had to shoot this film as as iron man team: I had to direct and set up the shots and Dan was acting in it and we didn't have an extra hand to utilize our boom mic. So we just used the onboard mic on my DVX100. Overall, we were pretty happy with what we accomplished in 48 hours.

A very solid film. Script: Well written with many funny bits. The key joke involved was sort of a retread of an old staple of standup comics, but you put an interesting twist on it in the end to give it some punch. Acting: Pretty good for the most part, though some of the lines were delivered in a bit of a stiff fashion so they didn't sound entirely natural. (Primarily when the two wives are talking outside at home) but mostly still very solid. Great camera work through most all of the film. The grading of a lot of the outdoor shots looked a little bit flat and washed out to me, but not to the point where it really detracted from the film. Two quick technical question, please... First, roughly 3/4 of the way through the movie, while the two male leads are driving back home from the store and the friend is trying to guess the correct word for a wife who can't get pregnant, there is one shot (just before his third guess) where the camera seems to be outside the car shooting in through the drivers side window getting both of the men in frame as the car moves. How was that shot? From a dolly? Second vehicle? A camera mount outside the door of the car? Or was it SFX? Because if that was a greenscreen it was too well done for me to tell. It was a great shot. Second, the shot in the supermarket where the camera focus goes in on the "list" and the dreaded item and the rest is mostly blacked out highlighting the item in question. Was that a mask? How was that done? All in all, a most enjoyable little short. I gave it a 4 out of five. Good work!

Ha Ha Ha, That was probably the funniest thing I have seen on the site yet. I have an 8 month pregnant wife, but I remember when I had to run errands for her "before" the fact, and you hit the nail on the head with that one. Very good use of the camera, you captured the scenes very well. If I had to pick one thing that I think could be improved, it would be some of the audio, it didn't quite match up in places, but it was still pretty good overall audio. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see your future films. That was well worth the download.
