This video was directed by my nephew, Jordan Avery. It was a school assignment, which he had two weeks to complete. I helped him a bit with various aspects of the project, including the grading of the footage.
There is no specific point to the video, it is just a series of nifty shots intended to match the mood of the piece of music, and I though the grading did a good job of increasing the mood as well.
The song is Mad World, originally by Tears for Fears, here it is covered by Michael Andrews, featuring Gary Jules.

Thanks guys.
Mr. Asger - My roommate has the cd single, which is where we got the music. Also available where hybrid mentioned.
We did indeed use my tripod mounted jib-crane, and a tripod dolly for several shots. Well spotted Hybrid.
Also, since this project, Michel Gondry, perhaps the greatest music video director ever (just my opinion) has done a video for this song as well, which is brilliant. Better than ours. But, well, duh.

I thought this was a generally well composed piece, edited nicely to suit the temp and lyrics of the music. The framing was overall of good quality and some of the camera movements made me wonder if you had a jib-arm/other stabilising device. The effects ideas were also pulled off nicely, all in all a sombre piece for a sombre song. I'm interested in seeing what your nephew comes up in the perhaps near future.
